Throwback Thursday: They called him “Blue Chariot”. Blue Streak Car comes from a long line of racers. His great-great-great-great-great-grandfather was a chariot racer. Most years, he was the top-dog, winner chariot in the Roman Colosseum. Notice how similar the logo is to Blue Streak’s modern logo. It’s a family tradition. Winning is in their DNA.

According to Wikipedia, the coliseum, also known as the Flavian Amphitheatre, is in the center of the city of Rome, Italy. Built of limestone and brick-faced concrete, it was the largest amphitheater ever built at the time and held 50,000 spectators. And, construction started in 70 AD. Texas Tech Jones AT&T Stadium, in Lubbock, Texas, holds more spectators, but the Colosseum was still big for its time.

An interesting fact about the Colosseum: the 70 AD construction of the Colosseum was funded by the spoils taken from the destroyed Second Jewish Temple, after the Great Jewish Revolt, in 70 AD. The Jewish uprising against oppression led to the Siege of Jerusalem and the destruction of the Jewish Second Temple. Sad but true.
